Puli Space Technologies aims to develop new techniques required to send spacecraft to the Moon on a routine basis, and to provide quality services for investors interested in commercializing space. Team Puli has focused on the development of a lunar rover and will contract a fellow Google Lunar XPRIZE team to deliver the vehicle to the Moon. Puli’s rover moves using a unique wheel-leg (wheg) construction that is specially designed for negotiating rough terrain. Team Puli has tested this design in lunar analog sites in the Moroccan desert and on the slopes of Mauna Kea volcano in Hawaii.
Team Puli is currently working on the space grade „proto-flight” Puli, called I3. The Puli is preparing for also another field test in August 2015. In cooperation with the Austrian Space Forum, under the AMADEE-15 program, this time Puli crawls the rocky terrain as assistant of astronauts, searching for traces of meteorites.
Team Puli also hosted the Google Lunar XPRIZE Team Summit 2014, held in Budapest at Hungarian Academy of Sciences, with representatives of the 18 team from more than a dozen countries all over the world. The Team Summit provided an excellent opportunity to the teams to share their experiences and plans for the rest of the race.
Puli is committed to encouraging the next generation of scientists and engineers through its activities. In addition to scientists, engineers and students, Team Puli has enlisted volunteers from all walks of life to aid in its mission to the Moon. The team currently has 30 active members. As well as the Grand Prize, Team Puli will be attempting to win the Range Bonus award.
